The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) Board seeks new members.
The science and innovation department published the call for nominations in Government Gazette 42657.
According to the notice, the aim of the TIA is to “support the state in stimulating and intensifying technological innovation in order to improve economic growth and the quality of life of all South Africans by developing and exploiting technological innovations”.
Successful nominees will serve on a part-time basis for the remainder of the four-year period until 30 April 2021.
Candidates are sought with “knowledge and experience in technological innovation, technology management, intellectual property and its commercialisation, and business skills…”.
Meanwhile, in Notice 444, the department has called for the nomination of candidates to serve on the Board of the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI).
The NACI is tasked with advising the minister of higher education, science and technology on the “role and contribution of science, mathematics, innovation and technology, including indigenous technologies, in promoting and achieving national objectives, namely to improve and sustain the quality of life of all South Africans, develop human resources for science and technology, build the economy, and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the international sphere”.
Nominations for both invitations are invited until 20 September 2019.
