Technical Tax Proposals for 2022 Budget Sought

November 17, 2021

National Treasury

National treasury seeks technical tax proposals to be considered for possible inclusion in Annexure C of the 2022 Budget Review.

In a statement, treasury points out that new tax proposals are announced in the Budget in February every year.

“The Budget Review, published with the Budget Speech, provides additional information on the tax proposals made in the Budget as well as proposed changes to tax legislation.”

Technical tax proposals must focus on “unintended anomalies, revenue leakages, loopholes and technical matters applicable to the current tax legislation that require correction”.

They are invited until 3 December 2021.

Treasury also announced that virtual workshops are planned for 9 and 10 December 2021.

The plan is for treasury and the South African Revenue Service to then submit recommendations to the finance minister for possible inclusion in Annexure C of the 2022 Budget Review.
