Sectoral Determination 9: Wholesale and Retail Sector Corrected

A correction notice to Sectoral Determination 9: Wholesale and Retail Sector has been published.

The employment and labour department published the correction notice in Government Gazette 42766.

Sectoral Determination 9 was originally published on 2 August 2019.

Tables 1 and 2 have been replaced reflecting that the minimum wages came into force on 2 August 2019.

In terms of table 1, a general assistant will receive R20 per hour, a cashier R22.13 per hour, a displayer R27.04 per hour and a manager R41.30 per hour.

As regards Table 2, a general assistant will receive R20 per hour, a cashier R20 per hour, a displayer R22.19 per hour and a manager R35.56 per hour.

The notice also indicates that clause 10(1)(a) as reflected in Notice 162 of 9 February 2016 has been replaced with “a) The employee is paid the relevant hourly wage rate in terms of Tables 1 to 2, plus in Table 1: between 17.5% and 35.07% and Table 2: between 9.76% and 46.84% for any ordinary hours of work worked by the employee, including ordinary hours of work performed on Sundays.”
