Section 24H Registration Authority Regulations Amended

Section 24H Registration Authority Regulations have been amended.

The forestry, fisheries and the environment department published the amendments in Government Gazette 47133 in terms of the National Environmental Management Act.

A new heading, namely, “interpretation, purpose and application of these regulations” is inserted into Chapter 1.

A new Regulation 2A on Application of these Regulations and Regulation 14 on Requirement to Register as Environmental Assessment Practitioner are also inserted.

Amendments are also introduced to Regulation 15, 16, 17, 18 and 21.

A new Regulation 21 on Transitional Provisions stipulates that, in cases where tasks contemplated in Regulation 14 have been initiated prior to Regulation 14 coming into effect, the person performing such tasks may dispense of his or her responsibilities without complying with Regulation 14.

Other notices include:

  • Notice 2321 – consultation on the Draft 8th National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report for the Republic of South Africa – Report to form part of the Fifth Biennial Update Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – comment invited within 30 days of the date of publication; and
  • Gazette 47134 – National Environmental Management: Waste Act – notice of extension of reporting period on interim performance reports by identified producer responsibility organisations and producers to the extended producer responsibility online system until 31 August 2022.
