Road Traffic Management Corporation Regulations Drafted

The transport department seeks comment on Draft Road Traffic Management Corporation Regulations.

The proposed Regulations were published in Government Gazette 45085 in terms of the Road Traffic Management Corporation Act.

The draft Regulations focus on services; fees chargeable by corporation; annual increase and repeal of Regulations.

The draft Regulations aim to repeal the Road Traffic Management Corporation Regulations of 2007 and the First Amendment to the Road Traffic Management Corporation Regulations of 2009.

Proposed fees include a R72 transaction fee; R99 for issuance and delivery of a motor vehicle licence and disc via courier service; R700 for online registration of a motor vehicle by the title holder; R99 for delivery of a credit card format driving licence and R60 for request for an electronic copy of the Accident Report.

Proposed fees for goods/services rendered for software development and operational support and data access fees are also set down.

Comment is invited within 30 days of the date of publication.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 45086, the department published proposed amendments to the Civil Aviation Regulations for comment in terms of the Civil Aviation Act.

Amendments are proposed to part 1 on definitions and abbreviations; part 21 on certification procedures for products and parts; part 36 on aircraft noise; part 127 on commercial helicopter operations: passengers, cargo and mail and part 135 on air transport operations – carriage of less than 20 passengers or cargo.

Amendments are also proposed to technical standards.

Comment is invited until 3 October 2021.
