Regulations on Qualifications for Dispensing Opticians Drawn Up

The health department seeks comment on Draft Regulations Relating to the Qualifications for the Registration of Dispensing Opticians.

The Draft Regulations were published in Government Gazette 44908 in terms of the Health Professions Act.

The proposed Regulations stipulate that the Registrar can register as a dispensing optician candidates with a National Diploma in Optical Dispensing from the department of national education and a Diploma in Opticianry and a National Diploma in Optical Dispensing from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Comment is invited within three months of the date of publication.

In Board Notice 83, the Pharmacy Council published additional fees payable for 2021 in terms of the Pharmacy Act.

The fee for changing the designation of a pharmacist from non-practicing to practicing as a result of an involuntary change of designation from practicing to non-practicing is set at R2 161.

In Gazette 44909, the department invites nominations of candidates to serve on the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Mental Health.

The call was made in terms of the Mental Health Care Act.

Appointees will serve a five-year term with the committee meeting on a quarterly basis.

Nominations are invited until 3 September 2021.
