Railway Safety Permit Fees Set Down

Railway safety permit fees have been set down.

The transport department published the permit fees in Government Gazette 46366 in terms of the National Railway Safety Regulator Act.

Fees include R61 575 for Group A application fee for transportation of passengers or general freight; R15 540 application fee for Group C temporary safety permit and R141 272 application fee for test and commissioning safety permit.

Transnet will pay a permit fee of R114 630 23 while the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa will pay R34 170 032 for the 2022/23 financial year.

The permit fees apply from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Meanwhile, in Notice 2085, the department published proposed amendments to Civil Aviation Regulations.

The proposed Regulations were drawn up in terms of the Civil Aviation Act.

Parts to be amended include Part 61 on pilot licensing; Part 101 on remotely piloted aircraft systems and Part 106 on Hang-gliding and Paragliding.

Amendments are also proposed to Technical Standard 106 on Hang-gliding and Paragliding.
