The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) seeks a chairperson.

The higher education and training department published the call for nominations in Government Gazette 42666.

The call was made in terms of the Skills Development Act.

The QCTO was set up in 2010 to oversee the design, implementation, assessment and certification of occupational qualifications, including trades, on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework.

It also offers guidance to skills development providers that need to be accredited by the QCTO to offer occupational qualifications.

The successful candidate will serve as chairperson for the term ending 31 March 2025.

Candidates are expected to have requisite knowledge and understanding of the QCTO’s legislative and government policies and strategies and appropriate and affirmed leadership and experience in the Post -School Education and Training sector.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 42667, the department has called for nominations for appointment as Council Members of the QCTO.

Successful candidates will also serve for the term ending 31 March 2025.

10 members are sought with one member appointed by the minister of higher education, science and technology.

Nominations are invited within 21 days of the date of publication of the notice.

The appointed chairperson and members of the QCTO will assume duties on 01 April 2020.
