QCTO Seeks Comment on Proposed Occupational Qualifications

Comment has been called on proposed occupational qualifications for registration on the qualifications- sub framework for trades and occupations.

The higher education and training department published the call in Government Gazette 42489 in terms of the National Qualifications Act.

Some of the qualifications include Occupational Certificate: Building Inspector (Class III) NQF Level 7, Credits 451; Occupational Certificate: Security Officer, NQF Level 3, Credits 86; Occupational Certificate: Chemical Plant Controller, NQF Level 5, Credits 180; Occupational Certificate: Railway Track Master, NQF Level 4, Credits 578; Occupational Certificate: Fishing Hand, NQF Level 2, Credits 183 and Occupational Certificate: Procurement Officer, NQF Level 5, Credits 180.

Part qualifications are also listed.

Details on the abovementioned qualifications are obtainable on the Quality Council for Trades and Occupation’s website.

Comment is invited within 21 days of the date of publication.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 42474, the basic education department has published the annual cost-of-living adjustment for educators employed in terms of the Employment of Educators Act.

In Schedule 1, detail is provided on the salary adjustment for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020 for educators on salary levels 1 -12 while Schedule 2 contains the salary adjustment for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020 for counsellors, therapists and psychologists.

The adjustment for inclusive package scales stands at 5.2%.
