Promotion of Access to Information Act Regulations Drawn Up

Promotion of Access to Information Act Regulations have been drawn up.

The justice and constitutional development department published the Regulations in Government Gazette 45057.

The Regulations focus on the availability of guide; access to information; complaints to Information Regulator and miscellaneous.

The Information Regulator needs to make the guide available in all official languages.

The section on access to information deals with the automatic availability of certain records of public bodies; voluntary disclosure and automatic availability of certain records of private bodies; availability of records of political parties; request for access to information; outcome of request and fees payable and internal appeal against decision of information officer of a public body.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 45058, the Legal Practice Council invites comment on proposed amendments to the Rules of the Council.

An amendment to Rule 22.1.4.2 seeks to replace reference to “court” with “Council”.

Comment is invited until 27 September 2021.
