Prohibition on CIPC Logo BizPortal Imposed

A prohibition on the use of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) logo BizPortal has been imposed.

The trade, industry and competition department announced the prohibition in Government Gazette 43906 in terms of the Merchandise Marks Act.

BizPortal is a platform developed by the CIPC to offer company registration and related services in a simple seamless digital way that is completely paperless.

It was designed to improve the ease of doing business in South Africa.
Identical or similar marks already in use will not be affected by the prohibition and it will be “perpetual and absolute in nature”.
