The standing committee on finance and the select committee on finance have called for written comment on the 2020 Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) tabled in parliament yesterday.
“Minister Mboweni will table the 2020 MTBPS before Parliament in terms of section 28 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) 1 of 1999, which requires the Minister to table multiyear budget projections for revenue, expenditure and key macro-economic projections on an annual basis.”
Virtual public hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November 2020.
Comment is invited until 2 November 2020.
Meanwhile, the national assembly recently unanimously resolved to recommend the current Deputy Auditor-General, Tsakani Maluleke, to president Ramaphosa for appointment as the new Auditor-General of South Africa.
The Ad Hoc Committee on the Appointment of the Auditor-General of South Africa had earlier identified Ms Maluleke as the best candidate for the position.
“The committee was satisfied with Ms Maluleke’s performance during the interviews, including her demonstrated ability, experience and suitability for the position.”
