The Promotion of Access to Information Act description for the cooperative governance and traditional affairs department has been drawn up.
The justice and constitutional development department published the description in Government Gazette 42464.
The act prescribes that all public bodies must provide details of all internal records held so that requests for information can be processed.
The purpose of the act is to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in both the public and private sectors by affording any person the right of access to information to enable them to exercise and protect all of their rights to the full extent required.

Documents available free of charge includes acts, annual reports, bills, policies and strategic plans.
