“The purpose of the process is to enable the Fund to verify bank account details prior to payment of any benefits to ensure that claims payments are made to the correct beneficiaries of the Fund.”

The notice focuses on medical claims and compensation claims and pensions.

Comment is invited within 60 days of the date of publication.

Meanwhile, in Notice 616, the department published a notice on updating of banking details for occupational injuries and diseases related claims.

The department indicated that the implementation of the Account Verification System is to “ensure that monies are paid to the correct people and claims are processed and paid within a reasonable period of time”.

The required documents and process for clients in updating banking details with the Compensation Fund are provided.
