Independent Communications Authority
Mobile Broadband Services Regulations are in place.
The Independent Communications Authority published the Regulations in Government Gazette 46155 in terms of the Electronic Communications Act.
The Regulations are designed to, inter alia, define relevant wholesale and retail markets or market segments for mobile services; determine whether there is effective competition in relevant markets and market segments; determine which, if any, licensees have significant market power in markets and market segments where there is ineffective competition and provide for monitoring and investigation of anti-competitive behaviour in the relevant market and market segments.
The Regulations focus on market definition; methodology; effectiveness of competition; significant market power determination; pro-competitive terms and conditions and schedule for review or revision of markets.
The Regulations came into effect on the date of publication.
