Members Appointed to Council for Natural Scientific Professions

November 10, 2021

Department of Science and Innovation

South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNSP) members have been appointed.

The science and innovation department announced the appointments in Government Gazette 45426 in terms of the Natural Scientific Professions Act.

Members serve a four-year term of office effective from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2025.

The SACNSP was set up to promote the practice of the natural science professions in South Africa, administer the mandatory registration of natural scientists, monitor the standard of education and training of natural scientists and set standards for the recognition of education and training of natural scientists.

In an earlier statement, the higher education, science and innovation minister, Dr Blade Nzimande, declared that the SACNASP should serve and protect the public and the environment in matters involving the rendering of natural scientific services by persons practising natural scientific professions.

“The SACNASP should thus ensure the upholding and maintenance of professional and ethical standards within the natural scientific professions, and advise me as the Minister on any matters pertaining to the practice of natural science,” said Minister Nzimande.
