Measures to Combat COVID-19 in Public Transport Amended

Measures to combat Covid-19 in the public transport services were amended during December 2020.

The transport department published the amended Directions in Government Gazette 44040 in terms of the Disaster Management Act.

The amendment stipulated that all operating licences for interprovincial and intraprovincial services that expired from 26 March 2020 until 28 February 2021 are valid until 31 August 2021.

Other transport notices published in December include:

• Notice 1411 – comment sought on proposed amendments to Civil Aviation Regulations Parts and Technical Standards until 24 January 2021;
• Notice 738 – airport charges for 2021 in terms of the Airports Company Act;
• Notice 1394 – call for comment on proposed Railway Safety Regulator permit fees for 2021/22 – comment invited within 30 days of date of publication;
• Notice 745 – air traffic service charges in effect from 1 April 2021;
