The iSimangaliso Wetland Park seeks board members.

The environment, forestry and fisheries department published the call for nominations in Government Gazette 42705.

The call was made in terms of the World Heritage Convention Act.

The iSimangaliso Wetland Park was known as the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park and is situated on the east coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

It is South Africa’s third-largest protected area covering 280 km of coastline.

Nominations of suitable persons are invited within 30 days of the date of publication.

Meanwhile, the portfolio committee on environment, forestry and fisheries has called on the department to draw up a credible asbestos remedial plan within three months.

The committee also called on relevant departments to participate in drafting the plan.

The department was also instructed to implement existing air quality legislation, in particular, the Air Quality Act.
