Information On Elephant, Lion, Leopard And Rhino Wanted

The Department of  Environment, Forestry and Fisheries has requested the public to submit written submissions, scientific information, socio-economic information or any other relevant information on matters related to the management and handling, breeding, hunting and trade of elephant, lion, leopard and rhinoceros that will enable evaluation and assessment of current practice, regulatory measures and policy positions.

According to Notice 221 in Government Gazette 43173, the information will be used by an Advisory Committee (high level) appointed under the National Environmental Management Act.

The Department has requested that all submissions must reach them within 60 days from the date of submission of the Notice.

Minimum Emission Standards Amendments

The Department has published an amendment to the Listed Activities and Associated Minimum Emission Standards identified in terms of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act.

The amendment was published in Notice 421 in Gazette 43174 and relates to the new plant emission limit of 1000 mg/Nm3 for sulphur dioxide.
