Fees for Nuclear Authorisations Set Down

Fees for nuclear authorisations have been set down.

The mineral resources and energy department published the fees in Government Gazette 46471 in terms of the National Nuclear Regulator Act.

The fees to be paid to the National Nuclear Regulator apply for the period 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.

The proposed fees increase from an hourly rate of R2,205 for the 2021 -22 financial year to an hourly rate of R2,331 for the 2022-23 financial year.

Authorisation fees shall also be billed annually in advance and payment is due within thirty days of the issuance of the invoice.

Small users, laboratories and refurbishes will pay an annual authorization fee for 2022/23 of R72 115; scrap processors, scrap smelter and service providers R90 144 and large operators including major mining and mineral processing facilities R1 370 191.

Other fees include R99 899 006 for the Eskom KNPS-normal operation; R24 401 272 for the Eskom KNPS-steam generator replacement and R52 671 413 for Pelindaba.

The Eskom-Thyspunt-nuclear installation site license application fee is set at R10 264 424.
