Effective Date for Regulations Regarding Petroleum Products Specifications Amended

The effective date for Regulations Regarding Petroleum Products Specifications and Standards for Implementation has been amended.

The mineral resources and energy department announced the revised date in Government Gazette 46589 in terms of the Petroleum Products Act.

The Regulations were published in Gazette 45068 at the end of August 2021.

They repealed the Regulations of 2006.

The Regulations set out specifications and standards for petroleum products that may be sold for consumption in South Africa.

The Regulations focus on permitted petrol grades; sale of petrol; permitted diesel grades; prohibition of certain activities; inspection and testing of petroleum products; labelling specification for petroleum products and records.

The Regulations will now come into effect on 1 July 2027.
