Draft standards have been published for comment in Government Gazette 43514.
The trade, industry and competition department published the proposed standards in terms of the Standards Act.
Draft standards include national norm for the development of South African National Standards; systems and software engineering – content of life-cycle information items (documentation); chemicals used for treatment of water intended for human consumption; testing of valves – fire type-testing requirements; hearing protectors – safety requirements and testing part 3: ear-muffs attached to an industrial safety helmet and power transformers – part 26: functional requirements of insulating liquids for use in power transformers.
New standards include software engineering – guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2015 to computer software; coke – determination of total moisture; school shoes with direct injection-moulded soles and heels and geographic information – data quality – part 2: XML schema implementation.
In Notice 761, the department announced that the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission will be closed to the public from 10h00 on Thursday 24 December 2020 up to and including Friday 1 January 2021.
The days from Thursday 24 December 2020 up to and including Friday 1 January 2021 will be regarded as dies non for purposes of the stated acts.
The notice also announces that, with regard to name reservations, all reserved names that would have lapsed between Thursday 24 December 2020 up to and including Friday 1 January 2021, will now have their reservation dates moved forward to Monday 4 January 2021 and will, therefore, only lapse on that date.
