Draft Regulations on Nuclear Non-Proliferation Drawn Up

Draft Regulations Regarding Nuclear Non-Proliferation have been drawn up.

The mineral resources and energy department published the Draft Regulations in Government Gazette 43979 in terms of the Nuclear Energy Act.

The draft regulations focus on keeping of records; reports to minister; measurements on nuclear material and maintaining measuring control programmes; provision of information on design of nuclear installation and site concerned and all changes effected to the design thereof; physical stocktaking of nuclear material; prior notification of importation and exportation of nuclear material; notification on any loss of nuclear material; schedules of planned activities; application for authorisation for acquisition, possession of, import and certain activities relating to nuclear material and application for authorisation for exportation of nuclear material.

Comment is invited within 60 days of the date of publication.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 43994, the department published the levies and interest payable for the Petroleum Pipelines Industry and the Piped-Gas Industry:

• Notice 1342 – Levy and Interest payable on Petroleum Pipelines Industry – levy for the petroleum pipelines is 0.39734 ell for the 2020/21 financial year;
• Notice 1343 – Levy and Interest payable on Piped-Gas Industry – levy for piped-gas is 42.995 c/Gj for the 2020/21 financial year.
