Draft Airports Company Bill to be Tabled Soon

The Draft Airports Company Amendment Bill is heading for parliament.

The transport department published the draft bill’s explanatory summary in Government Gazette 41120.

The proposed legislation seeks to:

• amend the Airports Company Act, 1993, so as to insert and substitute certain definitions;
• align Airport Company Act with the Companies Act, 2008 and Public Finance Management Act, 1999;
• provide for the appointment and disqualification of members of the Committee;
• provide for the vacation of office of members of the Committee;
• provide for meetings of the Committee;
• amend the period for the issuing of a permission;
• provide for decisions of the Committee;
• provide for the establishment of the Appeal Committee;
• provide for the appointment and disqualification of members of the Appeal Committee;
• provide for the vacation of office of members of the Appeal Committee;
• provide for appeals against the decisions of the Committee;
• provide for substitution of certain citations and expressions and to provide for matters connected herewith.

The Draft Air Traffic and Navigation Services Company Amendment Bill will also be tabled in parliament soon.

Its explanatory summary was also published in Gazette 41120.

The proposed legislation seeks to:

• amend the Air Traffic and Navigation Services Company Act, 1993, so as to insert new definitions;
• align Air Traffic and Navigation Services Company Act with the Companies Act, 2008;
• provide for a subsidiary to perform functions inside and outside of the Republic;
• substitute certain expressions, citations and words;
• provide for appeals against the decisions of the Regulating Committee;
• provide for offences and penalties and to provide for matters connected herewith.
