Disaster Management Act Regulations Amended

Disaster Management Act Regulations have been amended.

The cooperative governance department published the amended Regulations in Government Gazette 44201.

A new Chapter 6 on Alert Level 1 is inserted.

The Regulations stipulate that the curfew now applies from 00H00 until 04H00 daily; closing time for establishments including cinemas, theatres, casinos, beaches, gyms, restaurants and venues hosting professional sports is 23H00; wearing of face masks in public places mandatory; attendance of a funeral is limited to 100 persons; maximum number of people allowed at any gathering is 100 people indoors or 250 people outdoors – no more than 50 per cent of the capacity of the venue may be used if venue too small to accommodate numbers; night clubs remain closed; 33 land border posts that have been closed to remain closed – other 20 to remain open; international air travel restricted to OR Tambo, Cape Town, King Shaka, Kruger Mpumalanga and Lanseria airports and alcohol to be sold according to normal licence provisions – no alcohol to be sold during curfew.

A new Table 4 on Alert Level 1 listing specific exclusions is inserted.

Exclusions include night vigils, night clubs, international cruise liners and attendance at sporting events.

The amendments came into force on the date of publication.

In Notice 151, the department confirmed that Alert Level 1 will apply nationally.
