Directions to Combat Covid-19 in the Air Services Amended

Directions to combat Covid-19 in the air services for Adjusted Alert Level 3 were published in Government Gazette 44208.

The transport department published the amended Directions in terms of Disaster Management Act Regulations.

Direction 6 is amended by the insertion of a new subdirection (3).

It stipulates that international flights can operate at OR Tambo International Airport; King Shaka International Airport and Cape Town International Airport.

Long-haul flight departures and landings at the airports are permitted during the curfew and catering is allowed on international flights.

However, no catering or eating is allowed on domestic flight except for bottled water.

The amended Directions came into effect on the date of publication.

Meanwhile, in Gazette 44197, the department published adjusted application and permit fees for the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency.

The revised fees were drawn up in terms of the Cross-Border Road Transport Act.

The adjusted fees apply from 1 April 2021.
