Directions to Combat Covid-19 in Home Affairs Amended

Directions to prevent and combat the spread of Covid-19 in home affairs have been amended.

The home affairs department published the amended Directions in Government Gazette 45961 in terms of Disaster Management Act Regulations.

The amendments extend the validity of visas, asylum seeker permits and refugee status and the Lesotho Special Permit until 30 April 2022.

The extension applies to visas and permits that expired during the Covid-19 national state of disaster.

The holders of the visas and permits will not be declared an undesirable person upon exiting South Africa.

A new paragraph 17H on services to be rendered by the home affairs department is also inserted.

The amendments came into effect on the date of publication.
