Directions on the risk adjusted strategy for tourism facilities, services and products have been published in Government Gazette 43487.
The tourism department drew up the Directions in terms of Disaster Management Act Regulations.
The aim of the Directions is to set up an environment that combats and mitigates the spread of COVID-19, for the benefit of employers, employees, guests, visitors, passengers and customers in certain tourism sectors.
The tourism sectors include restaurants, fast food outlets and coffee shops; lodges, bed and breakfast, time-share facilities and resorts and guest houses; self-drive excursions; conference and meeting venues and casinos.
The Directions focus on restaurants, fast food outlets and coffee shops; hotels, lodges, bed and breakfast, time -share facilities and resorts and guest houses; conference and meeting venues; casinos and private self-drive excursions.
Detail is also provided on social distancing, queuing, lounges and waiting areas, kitchens, goods receiving/loading bays and training of employees.
Employers will be expected to train employees and delivery persons on COVID-19 health protocols including the wearing of masks, use of Personal Protective Equipment; social distancing; cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and surfaces and handling of orders and delivery to customers.
The Directions came into effect on the date of publication.
