Department of Home Affairs
Directions on entry into or exit out of South Africa in order to prevent and combat the spread of Covid-19 have been amended.
The home affairs department published the amended Directions in Government Gazette 43953 in terms of Disaster Management Act Regulations.
The Directions were first published in March 2020 and prescribed temporary measures necessary to manage Covid-19 by preventing the importation of, and minimizing the local transmission of, the virus.
In the latest amendments, paragraph 23A on applications for business travel is repealed.
A new paragraph 23B is inserted stipulating that a person allowed entry into South Africa will be “subjected to the prescribed screening procedures and isolation or quarantine rules, as the case may be”.
The amended Directions came into effect on the date of publication.
