Directions on Covid-19 in Sports, Arts and Culture Amended

Directions to combat Covid-19 in sports, arts and culture have been amended.

The sports, arts and culture department published the amended Directions in Government Gazette 46171.

They were drawn up in terms of Disaster Management Act Regulations.

Direction 3 sets out the procedure for a safety at sports and recreational events application.

Event schedules must be submitted to the department at least one month ahead of an event.

New subregulations (2) (3) and (4) are inserted into Regulation 67.

They focus on the wearing of masks in indoor public spaces and the removal of the mask requirement in open public spaces.

A new Regulation 69 on gatherings is also inserted focusing on the need for vaccination or a recent Covid-19 negative test in large gatherings and no need for vaccination or negative Covid-19 test at smaller gatherings limited to 1000 or less indoors and 2000 or less outdoors.

Direction 7 stipulates that the sale of liquor for on- or off-site consumption is permitted during licensed trading hours.

It also stipulates that the consumption of liquor in public spaces is not permitted.

The amended Directions came into effect on the date of publication.
