DHET and DSI Amend Essential Goods and Services List

Directions on temporary measures to manage the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown on the functionality of institutions in the higher education and training, and science, technology and innovation sectors have been amended.

The higher education and training and the science and innovation departments published the amended directions in Government Gazette 43255.

The directions are also designed to ensure the procurement and delivery of essential goods and services for institutions in the higher education and training, and science, technology and innovation sectors.

Direction 4 is amended by additions to the list of essential goods and services.

Printed materials to support learning and teaching; stationary products; raw materials and technical products used in research and development and the manufacture of products supporting the response to COVID-19 and the production of radio-pharmaceutical products, radioactive isotopes and devices that are used in the nuclear medicine industry for diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures are added.

The transport of such goods between suppliers, institutions and students in the higher education and training, and science, technology and innovation sectors is also declared an essential service.
