The South African Dental Technicians Council has invited the public and institutions to submit nominations of suitable candidates to be considered for appointment to the Council.
The invitation was published in Notice 610 in Government Gazette 41712.
The Council is a regulatory authority for the dental technician’s profession.
Members to the Council will be appointed for a five-year term of office, effective from 1 September 2018.
The following positions need to be filled:
• One Dentist attached to a university having a dental faculty;
• One Dental Technician or Dental Technologist attached to an institution at which dental technicians or dental technologists are educated and trained; and
• Three members of the public who are not registered in terms of the Dental Technicians Act or the Health Professions Act, of whom at least one shall be appointed on account of his/her knowledge of the law.
The closing date for nominations is Friday 29 June at 16:00. Late submissions will not be considered.
Meanwhile, regulations relating to maximum levels of metals in foodstuffs have been published in Gazette 41704.
A list of metals and corresponding foodstuffs is provided with maximum levels allowed before foodstuffs become contaminated.
The regulations kick in three months after the date of publication.
