Defence Force Service Commission Appointed

The Defence Force Service Commission has been appointed.

The defence department published the list of appointees in Government Gazette 42219.

The appointments were made in terms of Section 62A of the Defence Act.

The call for nominations of candidates to serve on the Commission was made in June 2018.

Amongst others, the Commission is tasked with making recommendations to the defence and military veterans minister on improvements in salaries and service benefits of SANDF members on an annual basis, recommend on policies in respect of conditions of service and promote measures and set standards to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of policies on conditions of service within the SANDF.

Four members were appointed with effect from 1 January 2019 to serve for five years.
