Council for Social Service Professions Fees Adjusted

November 24, 2021

Department of Social Development

Fees payable by social workers and child and youth care workers to the South African Council for Social Service Professions have been adjusted.

The social development department published the adjusted fees in Government Gazette 45501 in terms of the Social Service Professions Act.

The amended Regulations also set down adjusted fees for registering a speciality; student social workers and student child and youth care workers; social auxiliary workers and auxiliary child and youth care workers; learner auxiliary child and youth care workers and continuing professional development.

Amendments also stipulate that persons aged 65 on 2 January can be exempted from the payment of annual fees “if he or she applies in writing for such exemption to the Council and shall re-apply annually for the renewal of the exemption status”.

Persons qualifying for an exemption are not allowed to practice the profession that he or she are registered for.

Prior to reentering the profession, persons need to inform Council in writing of such intention and must pay, within 30 days, the outstanding pro rata annual fee for the financial year in which practice is resumed.

A new Regulation 4A on method of payment is also inserted.
