Commercial Diving Regulations in Place

Commercial Diving Regulations are in place.

The employment and labour department published the Regulations in Government Gazette 46380 in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The Regulations were published for comment in 2020.

Issues covered include plant and machinery; medical surveillance; control of commercial diving operations; commercial diver; systems technician; diving technical committee and prohibitions.

The Regulations came into effect on the date of publication.

In notice 2092, the department published amendments to Asbestos Abatement Regulations.

Reference to “over a continuous period of four hours” is added to the definition “OEL for asbestos”.
