Comment Sought on Artisan Development Advisory Body Regulations

September 16, 2021

Department of Higher Education and Training

Draft Regulations for the Establishment of the National Artisan Development Advisory Body (NADAB) have been drawn up.

The higher education and training department published the Draft Regulations in Government Gazette 45131 for comment in terms of the Skills Development Act.

The Draft Regulations focus on governance and funding; functions and operations.

Some of the Draft Regulation’s objectives include developing a consultation platform for artisan development; influencing policy on artisan development and advising on national artisan development legislation, policy, advocacy programmes, curricula, research and knowledge management.

The NADAB will advise the higher education, science and innovation minister on suitable solutions for the artisan development system.

The plan is for the NADAB to meet on a quarterly basis.

Comment is invited within 30 days of the date of publication.
