Broadcasting Digital Migration Advisory Council Appointed

July 11, 2018

Department of Communications

The communications minister, Nomvula Mokonyane, has appointed the Broadcasting Digital Migration Advisory Council.

The communications department announced this in a statement.

The appointment was made in terms of the Broadcasting Digital Migration Policy.

One of the Council’s immediate tasks is to, in collaboration with the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Programme Management Office, advise the Minister on the analogue-switch-over plan, including the countdown to the Free State Province switch-off by December 2018, as well as measures to speed up the uptake of DTT by citizens.

The Council will be chaired by Nomonde Gongxeka-Seopa, councillor of the Independent Communications Authority.

Details of the revised DTT delivery model will be released after the department’s consultation with Cabinet, including the date for Analogue Switch-Off.
