Bojanala Special Economic Zone in the Pipeline

Comment is sought on the intention to designate the Bojanala Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The trade and industry department published the invitation to submit comments in Government Gazette 42451.

The call was made in terms of the Special Economic Zones Act.

The proposed SEZ is located in Mogwase, in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality, Bojanala District, North West province.

It consists of an industrial park, a fully serviced land with bulk infrastructure and a greenfield site.

The SEZ is also known as the Platinum Valley SEZ and focuses on the mineral beneficiation of platinum group metals.

Comment on the intention to designate is invited within 30 days of the date of publication.

Meanwhile, in Notice 654, the department has called for comment on proposed amendments to the OR Tambo International Airport SEZ land areas and incorporation of the Impala Precinct into the SEZ.

The SEZ will continue to be known as the OR Tambo International Airport Industrial Development Zone.

It will consist of the OR Tambo International Airport Precinct and the Impala Precinct.

Certain land areas are to be excluded from, and the Impala Precinct is to be incorporated into, the SEZ.

Comment is invited within 30 days of the date of publication.
