Adjusted Dispensing Fees for Pharmacists Set Down

Adjusted dispensing fees for pharmacists have been set down.

The health department published the adjusted fees in Government Gazette 45131 in terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Act.

The dispensing fees flow from the Regulations Relating to a Transparent Pricing System for Medicines and Schedules Substances.

The dispensing fees include:

• Single exit price less than R117.85 – R16.25 plus 46% of single exit price;
• Single exit price between R117.85 and R314.24 – R30.15 plus 33% of single exit price;
• Single exit price between R314.24 and R1099.84 – R86.15 plus 15% of single exit price; and
• Single exit price of R1099.84 and above – R200.50 plus 5% of single exit price.

Meanwhile, in Notice 860, the department called for comment on a proposed amendment to Regulations Relating to the Constitution of the Professional Board for Optometry and Dispensing Opticians.

The draft amendment was drawn up in terms of the Health Professions Act.

A new paragraph (c) to Regulation 2 on the nomination of one person by Universities South Africa registered with the Board is proposed.

Comment is invited within three months of the date of publication.
