The 2019/20 West Coast Rock Lobster (WCRL) Total Allowable Catch (TAC) has been announced.
The TAC has been set at 1084 tons.
In a statement, the environment, forestry and fisheries department confirmed that the allocations per sector remain the same as the previous year.
Commercial Fishing (Offshore) is allocated 563.91 tons, Commercial Fishing (Nearshore) 170.25 tons, Recreational Fishing 38.76 tons, Small-Scale Fishing sector (Offshore allocation) 140.83 tons and foreign fishing 0 tons.
The start and end dates for the fishing season per sector and Super-area/Zone are also set down.
The 2019/20 WCRL recreational fishing effort is limited to 12 days and the recreational fishing season will open on Saturday, 1 November 2019 and close on Saturday, 11 April 2020.
The department also announced that fishing times for WCRL will be from 08h00 until 16h00 and the bag limit is four per person per day with the size restriction set at 80 millimetres carapace length.
